Walk through Dreamland Prague
Wondering of visiting Prague? Then you are most welcomed to the trap because you can leave Prague but the memories of this fairy tale city will never you...
So let’s find out what makes the city of hundred spires so popular among tourist around the world.
Prague Castle
Largest castle in the world. Yes you heard me
right Prague castle is huge, it has total 70,000 square km of land and
therefore has its name in genius world record. Responsible for attracting more
than 2 million visitors each year, Prague castle dates back to medieval time and was constructed in 9th century. It is home to some of most
ancient yet beautiful historic buildings like St. vitus cathedral, St. Georgia Basilica, old royal palace etc.
There are
also professional guides which gives you full tour of the castle. It will cost
you $6 if you avail the tour in foreign languages (English, Spanish, German and
French) but luckily if you understand Czech, cost will be 4 bucks.
Castle main complex is open for tourist all day but if
you are keen to visit historic buildings in the castle then remember closing
time is five in the evening.
Isn’t it creepy and haunted? Visit by yourself and share your experience
with us down in the comments.
Well it still has a
purpose, it prevents people from meeting at middle and wondering how to walk
pass each other. Back in days it was used as a fire exit but now it has become an unusual attraction for the
tourist in the city.
The Charles Bridge
Sweetest and most iconic spot of Prague is the famous Charles Bridge. It connects city’s Old Town to the Mala Strana
over the
Vltava River and was constructed
way back in 13th century.
But will wish
you good look if you are visiting it late night, there have been hundreds of reports of people seeing
headless ghosts walking the bridge in the middle of the night, statues moving,
ghosts jumping into the river and voices being heard over the past several
decades.
Drinking Beer
You might a beer lover but surely
you surely can’t challenge people of Prague,
The locals drink more beer than any other country in the world on per capita basis. Do
remember to try The Pilsner brand, Invented in Prague and most Czech beer is in this style.
Also to make things even better,
beer cost less than the drinking water in most of restaurant in Prague hurray!!!
The Narrowest Street
You guys are still complaining about
the narrow roads of your neighbourhood then better pay visit to the narrowest street in the world. It has
no official name but one can easily find it near U Luzickeho
Seminare street.
It is only 50
centimeters wide and to make things even more fun, there is even pedestrian traffic light which you have
to turn on by the side button at the entrance before entering the street.
Dancing House
Warnings!!!
If coming from communist nation this
structure might trigger you. This famous dancing house symbolises bending of communalism in front of democracy.
It was architect by Fred Astaire and
Ginger Rogers. Crazy architecture of Prague and can be seen a few
kilo meters down the river from Old Town
Square and the Astronomical Clock.
Visiting dancing
house is waste if you don’t picture yourself pretending to save the
building from falling down… so do that. There is even nice but pricey
restaurant named Ginger and Fred at the top floor for honouring the
work of architects.
Petrin tower
Why to visit Paris when you can climb a tower which
actually resembles Eiffel tower. This
60 meters tower looks way bigger
than its actual size because it stands at the top Petrin Hill. To reward yourself with amazing view of the city one
has to climb total 299 steps but
efforts are worth it especially if you are climbing in evening to catch beautiful sunset.
The best way to reach petrin hill would be taking a tram
9, 12, 15 or 22 and stop at UJEZD. From
here onwards you can simply walk up the hill passing the beautiful park.
It will cost you around 2 bucks (hourly) to get perfect view of Prague.
Tik Tok Tik
Prague’s
Astronomic clock is renowned across the world. It dates back 600 years and can be found in front of
the Old Town Hall. Still it is
completely functional and provides its visitors correct time and date along
with astronomical and zodiacal information that it is
relative positions of the sun, moon, and zodiacal constellations. Isn’t that
fascinating?
Every hour a procession of moving sculptures, including a skeleton
representing the figure of death,
appear from the clock’s sides and strike the time. There many legends
associated with the Astronomic clock,
share some of them with us down in the comment section.
Food fantasy
If you are in Prague. You just can’t leave without trying their delicious pork knuckles, especially if love ham hocks you are definitely in for a treat. After all there’s
a reason, the people of Prague are
so obsessed with it. Yumm!!
Mlejnice is a
great place to try pork knuckle in
the centre of Prague.
Bathe in Beer
That’s right!! And I am not kidding you can just take a proper
bath with beer in your own private spa room and drink unlimited amount of it
(of course not from your own tub). This once in lifetime experience does not
come cheap, 1 tub for 1 person will cost you around 100 dollars and if are sharing the tub with your partner the cost
will be 150 dollars.
There are also various health benefits associated with your beer bath, apparently the high hop oil
content in the beer helps to open your pores and have a more glowing appearance. It also supposedly
helps improve immunity, stimulate metabolism and ease stress - who would’ve known a beer
bath could be so revitalising!!
Better have reservation while visiting; after all you are
in the Beer capital of the world.
High in the Sky
TV
tower or as local says zizkov
tower is the tallest tower in Prague with structural height of 216 meters. Tower offers
panoramic views of the city and the
surrounding area from nine separate pods.
There are even crawling
babies up the sides of the tower that can be seen from all around. They
were added recently to make the tower a tourist attraction and it seems they
are serving the purpose quite well.
To my surprise there is even a one room hotel on the tower. Yes you read it right, isn’t it cool.
But this sweet little hotel might not be right place for most of you looking
for budget travel in the city; cost can go as high as $1000 per night in this 5
star one room hotel.
